Yesterday Ramiro and I took a day trip to Isle-aux-Coudres, aka our new favorite place on earth! We had never been before and completely fell in love with it. The only way to get to the island is to take a ferry (!!!), which is the best excuse for a little boat excursion and scenery marvelling. The island is set in a wide part of the Saint-Lawrence River that smells like the sea (!!!) and boasts some of the most breath taking scenery I've ever seen. While exploring the island, we found a mill, a beach with clear water, a floating Virgin Mary and beautiful apple orchards.
Although we both come from the city and currently live in the city, we have always dreamed of living in the middle of nature in a small village and until today we never knew exactly where that may be. In the past 5 years we have explored many turfs and now I think we may have found our place in the world... Far from Hollywood for sure, but so incredibly inspiring!
Now we just have to find a way to bring a little part of the movie making industry there with us...
I can't wait to go back :)

ReplyDeleteWell, it certainly looks beautiful. Seems funny how many always think the grass is greener. I come from a small town and so many want to go to the city! lol...
ReplyDeleteI am glad I can comment on here again ;) Thank you for the lovely words, are you coming to any fashion week shows this week?, I chose to go to just one since I was invited by Betina Lou to see her show tomorrow, my favorite anyways ;) My mom is coming with, should be fun! If not a Fall hang out would be awesome, oh and thank you for the twitter love on my new leather collar :)

Good gawd, that looks like an amazing day! Glad you to had some wonderful downtime!
ReplyDeleteYou probably already know that, but Pierre Perreault, one of our greatest directors, directed a bunch of documentaries about L'Isle-aux-Coudres. Those films are considered as the masterpieces of Quebec's Cinema!
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful recluse place! My wife and I love Charlevoix!
