I have to admit I mostly watch auteur films and don't always have a very high tolerance for Hollywood studio movies (... no comments) but I have to admit I enjoyed this one SO much. It is incredibly funny, Russel Brand is just awesome and the story is really well mapped out (...well, up till the threesome scene anyways!). The movie is much better than the trailer I promise.
Plus I aspire to be like Quentin Tarantino and love ALL movies, so this is a step in the right direction :)
Tarantino holds a special place in my heart, too - as a director, but also for his wealth of cinematic knowledge. Plus he loves Italian movies ;-)
ReplyDeleteHaven't heard of this movie yet, may not be out in Italy yet (or it's been given some random translated Italian title, which happens often).
lovely!
ReplyDelete"Get Him to the Greek" was a great movie! Easily one of the best comedies of the Apatow era. The threesome scene was awkward, and the movie kind of lost its footing in the fourth act, but it was rather funny, and rather touching, on the whole.
ReplyDeleteIt was a good look at fame and loneliness, but it was tempered by raucous comedy, so it never really felt contrived. Another movie that covered some of the same ground, Funny People, was awful, however.
you musta read my mind! do you know how badly i wanted to see that film and then the boyf brought it just last night!!!! off the hook hilarious. so glad you thought so too b/c your cinematic knowledge and approval means a bunch. ♥
ReplyDeleteSeriously I'm a tuff public and I kept laughing like, OUT LOUD! It's that funny :)
ReplyDeleteI have seen this and found it quite funny too. Puff Daddy was hilarious.
ReplyDeleteI didn't like the editing though, the scenes could have flowed better, some of the conversations felt like they just mixed random takes together.
Great pick! I loved Puff Daddy in this movie and I agree with you about Quentin, I love all his movies...Pulp Fiction is my favorite movie of all time
ReplyDeleteI love all movies too, i'm so tarantino! :D And I really want to see that movie. Russell is hilarious.
