When I think Birthday party, I instantly think: cocktail dress. But these days I am trying to fight my first impulses to move away from ready made ideas and push things a little further to get my inspiration flowing. That's why I resisted reaching for my favorite dress when getting ready for Saturday's party and decided to go for a colourful casual look instead. I'll tell you: a gold sweater does wonder to bring the festive feel out of any outfit! I'm in love with mine so much, I'm thinking you all need one similar in your closet asap. This baby sparkles even in the dark and has a magical mermaid-like feel to it, which makes it the greatest sweater of all times in my book!
I felt like such a wise Winter style blogger when I had the idea of wearing tights under pants, an idea that would revolutionize the way we look at layering, resonate in cold countries around the world and keep our bums warm I thought! But then I realized it creates a ton of bunching at the knee, got a grip and took the tights off. My ideas of grandeur are always best laid out in my head...
Hope this Monday isn't too brutal everyone, I know I sure could have used and extra week-end day!
Virginie ♥
Oh my gosh Virginie you are stunning in this look, love that you reached for pants + the styling is breathtakingly fabulous!! Hope your week ahead is lovely. xo veronika
ReplyDeletelove this look! I have found tights and pants to be quite a problem solver. I'm okay with the knee-bunching if it keeps me snug and cozy!

You look fabulous Vorginie! ^^ I adore those socks in open shoes, you dare devil! and I'm pretty sure the Bday girl LOVED that gift! One can never have enough knitted scarfs, especially when they are hand made by an awesome friend I guess =) xo Nikki

This is a PERFECT alternative to a cocktail dress! I LOVE the gold sweater and the leopard heels. The trousers and tights look is something that I, as a Colorado blogger, def indulge in many a time. You look great!

ReplyDeleteI love this outfit. It doesn't get quite that cold in Texas, but it is a great styling and practical idea for a cold weather outfit.

ReplyDeleteThose pants are fantastic! I love the blue and gold combo!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great look! I love the pop of red from your tights. I agree, tights under pants is hard to wear comfortably - sometimes I'll just wear shin-high socks under my cropped pants in cold weather.
ReplyDeleteOoh I love this outfit! That top is soooo fun! :D

Haha I used to wear tights with my trousers to school, I was such a wimp about walking (literally) across the road without piles of layers in winter! Its not entirely practical I guess but looks v cute! :)
ReplyDeletewhat a fantastic gold sweater!!!
ReplyDeletei love this look! what a perfect alternative to a party dress! and red ankle socks would be the perfect fix to your tights conundrum! and what a great gift...thoughtful, practical, and most likely very beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love it! The red tights do the trick.
ReplyDeleteI have the same sweater... which was an impulse buy, because I usually shy away from metallic. My styling of it lives here: http://aestheticfauna.blogspot.com/2012/03/ive-always-been-drawn-to-people-with.html

Nice dress
ReplyDeleteWoah! That’s a classy look! I was thinking about what to wear for my friend’s birthday party which is in a very beautiful Chicago event space. This place is really nice and so it surely means I have to dress properly and amazingly for her birthday. Please suggest something.
