Last Night's Movie: Adaptation ★

It's fair to say I am a fan of every screenplay Charlie Kaufman has ever written: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Being John Malkovich, Synecdoche New York and of course, Adaptation. I love his phantasmagoric universe so much. It's full of awkward romantic feelings, odd occurrences and characters that can't seem to find their place in the world.

Directed by Spike Jonze, Adaptation tells the story of Charlie, a screenwriter that turns to his twin brother (both played by Nicholas Cage) for help when he can't seem to adapt a non-fiction novel about an orchid hunter (Chris Cooper). He becomes obsessed with it's writer, Susan Orlean (Meryl Streep) at the same time as looking for his own romance salvation. In the end, not all is what it seems of course...

A must see!
