Québec Super-8 Trailer

Over the past 2 years I have had the pleasure to produce eight short films in Super-8MM and it has been such a great experience to work with film for the first time! I had a wonderful time producing this project for Spirafilm, working with the eight filmmakers and overcoming the many challenges that came our way.

The project, called Québec Super-8, is now almost finished. The premiere will take place on June 2nd during the Vitesse Lumière film festival at the Musée de la civilisation in Québec city. If you are in the area we'd love to see you there!

If not, you should definitely check out the trailer (above)!

Because I get a lot of technical questions on this project, let me say this : we shot most of the footage on color negative Kodak film and had the film developed and processed to HD (2K) in Toronto (Niagara Custom Lab and Frame Discreet) as to do our post production digitally. We used a Beaulieu Pro Super-8MM camera and a 3 to 1 film ratio.

To all the partners, investors, volunteers as well as to my technical team and everybody who believed in this project as much as I did I want to say: THANK YOU !!! The results are amazing and we could not have done it without you.

  3. It looks amazing, Virginie! Definitely let us know when it's online. The filmic quality (so not a film person so don't know the terms) is awesome; we really did lose some depth and grain in the digital transfer.

I will say, Quebec cinema rocks!
